The primary objective of the FDA-approved EMA® oral appliances is to open the bite and move the mandible forward.

In the EMA Custom, this is achieved via interchangeable elastic straps that offer varying degrees of mandibular advancement. These interchangeable elastic straps permit lateral movement and retain the integrity of the Temporomandibular Joint.

• 2 mm thick "pressure-formed bases" assure orthodontic retention and maximum anterior tongue space.
• Bite planes are used to open the bite.

Strap lengths:

• Extra long (21mm, advances mandible 4mm)
• Long (19mm, advances mandible 6mm)
• Medium (17mm, advances mandible 8mm)
• Short15.5mm advances mandible 9.5mm
• Extra short (14mm, advances mandible 11mm)

Strap Durometer:

• Soft (white)
• Yellow (medium)
• Blue (firm)
• Clear (extra firm)

In the EMA II, this is achieved via adjustable vertical dimension (bite pads) and the abovementoned range of mandibular advancement (straps). Bite pads are available in eight sizes with a .75mm thickness difference in vertical dimension ranging from 10 to 15.25 mm. They are available in hard and soft material for greater patient comfort, easily titratable chairside.
